Background
This is my second Supra. I first owned an 82 in college,
but wanted more power, and did not know about the 7M drop
into the MK2 chassis, or I may have gone that route. Bought
the 88 about 9 years ago. Have been through most of the
basic mods, but finally upgraded to a bolt on 60-1.
Turbo
60-1 Hifi housing, BB CHRA and bolt on housing from Turbonetics,
configured by ITS for SurpraSport. It is the stage V exhaust
side, not sure of the AR ratio. The CHRA is painted silver,
the Exhaust housing is thermal coated inside and out, and
the compressor housing is powder coated silver with clear
coat. It looks stock if you don’t know what you looking
at ;)
Bottom
End
Stock 170k mile engine with no internal mods.
Head
Head was replaced in Vegas with a used head from a 75k mile
vehicle. No valve job, just had the gasket surface cleaned
up for a MHG. I'm running a Greddy 1.3mm.
Intake
Stock intake. I’m using two Porsche spec BOV’s
vented back into the intake accordion hose. Custom IC pipes
I made, and a MAXX direct fit FMIC. The intake filter is
under the headlamp, and behind the fog lamp. Fits pretty
dang good there too.
Exhaust
Oldschool SS welded up elbow that has been completely ported
and welded up again by me. Custom 3” DP. Both are
thermal coated to keep the heat in. DP is further wrapped
to keep the heat in. HKS twin tip cat back to complete the
system. No cats.
Fuel
Aeromotive AFPR, custom kit from JBL, Walbro 255HP pump,
550cc Lucas injectors (not from RC, but the same injectors)
I have a nice 6.00 water pressure gauge to keep an eye on
pressure.
Drivetrain
RPS 6 puck, upgraded pressure plate and Fidanza flywheel.
Also SS Carbon Fiber driveshaft.
Suspension
Tokiko Illumina struts, B&G springs, ST bars. New ball
joints.
Electronics
Emanage and E-01 to control the fuel and boost. Also fuel
pump resistor bypass done for full voltage to the pump all
the time.
Interior
Custom speakers, 4” with tweeters in the door panels
and rear speaker panels so they reflect off the quarter
glass. 10” Sub in custom box so targa still fits,
and one 5 channel amp with sub control for all the speakers.
Exterior
Mk 4 TT rims, 255/40 17’s in the front, and 275/40
17’s in the rear. Custom painted them myself.
Writeup
Have run from stock to current over past 9 years. Pretty
much ran with a shimmed out Ct for about 3 years, it was
great. Did most of the fuel mods, turbo and the rest in
the last year. Was stock before that.
Future
plans
Full performance engine, lots of coatings and other stuff
to make it last longer and hold up to heat better. Wideband
02 so I don’t burn up my motor. I really like Will’s
ADR rims so I plan on picking up a set of those. Tein coilovers
and the EDFC. Daiken clutch next time. (Multi disk, with
an included pressure plate from alloy, and flywheel from
chromemoly.) Full leather interior like Keith Harts. (Not
the same colors, but you get the idea.)
